JOSEPH HURST Joseph Hurst, son of John Hurst and Elizabeth Breedwell, was born in Virginia in abut the year 1792. He married Rhoda McNew of Virginia, and was a soldier in the War of 1812. Joseph came with his father from New River to Claiborne County where the records show he purchased a tract of land in 1818. In 1825, he sold a tract of land to John McCammack, and another tract in 1829. He went to Putnam County, Indiana, where he stayed a short time, and then migrated to Buchanan County, Missouri, where he died before 1850 (this information does not match information posted in the LDS Family History computer, retreived 26 June 1998.
